Use of a mooring winch
The barge lateral movements created by lateral winches are called mooring. Two to eight winches are placed on the deck of the barge in order to allow it moving following two axes.
Different systems composed of various winches are available. There are called two points mooring system, four points mooring system, six points mooring system and eight points mooring system.
A clutch and a band brake are necessary to enable the mooring operations.
Technical specifications for a mooring winch
Many types of equipment are required and specific to the mooring winch such as the band brake, the manual or automatic clutch.
The hydrolic motor and the gearbox in the drum allow the minimization of the size although there is a large rope coiling capacity.
